1950 Ford 8N Tractor s/n 8N299445. 5-foot wide Mower (Brush-Hog). 6-foot wide Blade for Grading and Scraping. Original 39-page 1953 Shop Manual. This tractor is not currently running and has not be used for a number of years. There are no known issues or problems with the engine or transmission. But not being able to secure a reliable mechanic it has become necessary to proceed without servicing. Tires have less than one mile usage. The electrical system (amp-meter, alternator, coil, ignition switch, resister, starter solenoid, and starter switch) has been converted from 6 volt to 12 volt. The 2-wheel drive 8N features a 25 HP, four-cylinder, 119.7 cubic-inch displacement gasoline engine. It has 92 ft-lbs of torque, reached at 1,500 rpm; 4-speed transmission; “Position-control” setting for the hydraulics; PTO overrunning coupler; left-side clutch and right-side independent brakes. The Ford 8N is not your ordinary tractor. The 8N debuted in July 1947 and were discontinued in 1952, 70 years ago. During this six-year period they manufactured a total of 524,076. Most farm equipment this old has long since been retired. But demand for the 25-horse-power 8N has. These are not just coveted as antiques – they’re valued as workhorses. The tractors success was based on it’s revolutionary three-point hydraulic hitch making it easy to attach light implements – plows, mowers, cultivators, rakes, harrows, leveling blades, brush-hogs and such. The 8N is designed for easy maintenance and repair. Air Hose to Carburetor. Battery – DieHard Gold – 12V – 640 Cold Crank Amperage. Battery Cables – Rubber Covered. Battery Hold Down Bolt with Nut.
