The tractor starts up and runs good. It usually starts by a couple cranks of the flywheel. It runs good and smooth and doesn’t make any unusual sounds. It doesn’t smoke or burn any oil. It has good compression and lots of power. The cooling system is full of good clean coolant and doesn’t leak. The clutch operates like it should and the transmission shifts into all of the gears good. The brakes work good and the steering is smooth and doesn’t seam to have much slop. The tractor has a set of factory fenders in great shape with no rust. The rest of the tin work is in good shape as well. It is an older restoration but is still a very respectable looking tractor. The rims are all in good shape and the rear tires have matched tread with lots of life left. This would go great in any collection or you could use it around the farm. If you have any questions you can call me at 815 901 2231. The tractor can sit here for up to 6 months if paid for in full. No pay pal please unless if you contact me first. This M4000 Ford 4X4 tractor is very rare. It is really hard to come up with a price as I can’t find another one like it to compare it to. I have looked far and wide, but haven’t found one. I have talked to many old Ford tractor dealers and mechanics and they have never seen one. It would be a real asset to a Ford tractor collection or a museum, or to someone who likes to participate in tractor show and parades. If you like tractors expecially rare and hard to find ones, this maybe what you are looking for. This M4000 Ford tractor was made in 1968 in Antwerp, Belgium as identified on the ID plate. The numbers on the ID plate are 8J28B which tells when it was made and the serial number A176092 which tells where it was made. The plate also has four Ford logos. You can see this in the picture. The tractor is all original as far as I can tell. The paint is not original as it has been painted a few years back. It is a 3 cylinder diesel with live power and 4-speed Hi/Lo transmission. It starts and runs good and has 34xx hours on it. The brakes, 3-point lift, and 4 wheel drive work good. The PTO works good but right now is stuck in on position. I talked to a Ford tractor mechanic who said that the clutch disc was stuck due to not being used. He said that once it starts being used it will probably unstick and work as supposed to work. The front tires are 8-24 in good condition. The back tires are 13-36 and have a lot of tread but are weather cracked. They still have a lot of life left in them. The front differential has in raised letters a FP on it. Haven’t found out what the FP stands for. This tractor is for sale locally so I may cancel add at any time.
