John Deere 1953 Model 40T tractor, sn- 62224. MUST SEE
Very nice John Deere 1953 model 40T. Not perfect but very nice. Tractor is running in pictures. Starts easily, runs great! Everything works as it should. Every valve, seal, gasket, spring, and other replaceable parts were replaced. We take this tractor to shows and parades and have had many comments about how nice it is! At the West Liberty, Ohio Festival this year the gas tank started leaking badly. We drained the tank until the festival ended. When we got it home we took the gas tank out and saw it had been patched previously with J B Weld. We connected our shop vac to the tank and blew fumes out for several hours, which also dried the inside of the tank. Standing at a distance I then tried to light the tank with a lighter on a stick. It would not light. I knew it was safe to work on. I ground out the bad area and mig welded in a patch. The tank is good as new and does not leak! We have rebuilt the 3 point levers with new discs and seals. We have touched up paint wherever needed to make the tractor look nice. The oil and filter have been changed recently. The hydraulic fluid has been changed recently. The front tires are good Firestone 500-15. The rear tires are Goodyear 11.2/10-34 with plenty of tread but have lots of weathering cracks. The rims are all in good shape! No calcium in the tires. This is a 64 year old tractor, it is not perfect but very nice. Has a few small drips.
