JOHN DEERE 855 COMPACT UTILITY TRACTOR 4WD with 52 Loader and 7 Backhoe, DIESEL
Hydrostatic drive (not gear). If memory serves this is a 1987. It includes the 52 loader and the 7 backhoe, there is no mowing deck. It has done everything I’ve ever asked it to from plowing snow, to digging holes for landscaping, moving machinery, transporting gravel and mulch, you name it. It’s been a very good tractor. It has however gotten to the point where I either need to put a bit of time into it or move it along. Obviously I’ve decided to move it along. As far as what it needs, there is a hose on the engine that spurts a little diesel that needs to be replaced, one of the bucket cylinders leaks some hydraulic oil (it works fine, but nonetheless needs to be tended to at some point), the right rear tube (rears are filled) sprung a leak I think by the look of it (although it seems to hold the air pretty well), one of the cylinders on the backhoe sprung a leak at the welded fitting (as I recall it’s the boom cylinder) so I disconnected the backhoe so that will need to be fixed before the backhoe can be used; I picked up two hydraulic cylinders I was going to try to make work (included). The RPM indicator pointer seems to have broken off inside the dial. Light switch needs to be replaced. The vinyl cab curtains show all of their 30 years and need to be replaced or just remove the cab entirely. I also just noticed that apparently some mice were chewing on the engine harness, needs some tape or something; that’s pretty recent as it wasn’t like that this past winter (see pic). As far as running condition, engine runs great and is indicative of it’s low hours (480 hours). If you want to start using it right away you can, although I would probably change that hose that’s spurting some diesel before too long. As noted, the loader works great, the 4WD works great, it runs and drives fine for a 30 year old tractor. The only thing not currently working is the backhoe which needs that cylinder tended to. Includes the 3-point hitch hardware, a couple new hydraulic cylinders, a new seat, oil (gear, hydraulic, and engine), and a few filters (engine oil and fuel filter) – (see photos). The original backhoe seat is included as well, although not shown in the photos. Please study the photos carefully as they form a part of the description. Tractor is listed locally and I reserve the right end the listing early.
