1970 John Deere 4020 Side Console Tractor
1970 john deere 4020. Late model tractor with long shift stick and side console controls. Full 3pt hitch w/ factory top link. 18.4 x 34 rear tires hold air fine but are nothing special. Has side shields and rockshaft covers. We gave it a jump and it fired right up. Supposedly it had been overhauled at some point prior to being parked but we never got any proof, just what the kids told me. The pto and head gasket have been out fairly recently, thats about as much proof as i have. Everything on this machine works good including the clutch brakes diff lock dual hydraulics and 3pt. It has the long shift lever and side console, tough to find these. The sheet metal is good and solid, as are the side shields and rockshaft covers. Clean rear rims, no rust. Starts from the seat with the key and drives around great. These later model 4020s are hot property and we’ve offered this one pretty reasonable. A person could easily fix what needs attention and have themselves a nice one to keep, or make it nice and flip it for some $$$ in the spring. Bad spots on this machine: it has an injector miss, seems to get better once warmed up but its there. It has old fuel in it, that isn’t helping. Might need an injector. Might just need to be worked hard?? Front and rear tires hold air just fine but are nothing to write home about. Fenders show a little rust around bolts but not much…. Pretty decent in my opinion. Has a hydraulic leak on the 3pt torsion shaft (i think) that probably needs an oring. Shift stick is a little sloppy, not the actual shifting that is very tight, just the lever. Needs a jump to start, batteries are getting tired. Here is your opportunity to own an affordable 4020 side console, dont miss out!
