This is a 2008 John Deere 5603 4WD diesel farm tractor, s/n 269087. This is a good running and good looking tractor with an 85 PTO HP diesel motor that should be ready for work as it is. The hourmeter is only showing 2 hours on it so it’s obviously not original. I called John Deere to see if they could tell me any history on it and what they told me was that it was in the shop to be serviced in 2009 and it had 668 hours on it and it was serviced again in 2010 and it had 861 hours on it. I wish I could tell you exactly how many hours are actually on it but that’s about the best I can do. It does run well, there’s no excess smoke or oil leaks or anything that would make me think it’s worn out or has had a huge number of hours put on it. The body and paint are good all around and it’s missing the cover off the left taillight but the cab is in good condition and it has good glass all the way around. It has the shuttle shift transmission which is very handy for when you’re bailing hay or for if you want to put a loader on this tractor and the 12/3 speed transmission shifts just like it should through all the gears. It is also plumbed for and has a joystick controller for a front end loader. The 4WD is working well but the dash indicator light doesn’t seem to come on when 4WD is engaged. The suspension seat is in good condition, the inside of the cab has a few snags in the lining but is really in pretty good and clean condition. The molded plastic cup-holder is cracked I think this is an issue with John Deere’s design because this seems to happen quite a bit. The cup-holder still works but there is a crack in it please take a look at the pictures to see what I’m talking about. There also seems to be a leak coming from somewhere because when we get a good rainstorm, there is some water that comes into the cab. It’s not a lot of water but it does leak onto the cup-holder. I’ve taken a couple of pictures that show a repair that someone did to the top of the cab. There’s an access panel on the top of the cab that it looks like someone has tried to caulk under and some of the plastic molding around the lights on the top, back left corner of the cab has been cracked and kind of repaired. You can’t really see the repairs from the ground, I had to climb up on top of the tire to actually see where the repairs were made. I don’t think it’s a big deal and I’ve taken a picture so you can see exactly what I’m talking about. It has heat and AC and the AC needs to be charged. All the controls seem to be working just as they should be and it drives and operates like it should.
