Here is an amazing survivor! This John Deere 4230 App. Diesel tractor appears to have all original paint except for some spots of decades old rattle can touch up that is mostly on the rims! The motor may never have been taken apart as even the injector line nuts have original paint. It starts and runs as you would expect, but the brakes bleed down when you shut it off, work great when it is running. The cab has heat and A/C it works! Tires are great, but rear tires have some tread cuts. Tires are not fluid filled. Dual remotes, 540 and 1000 PTO shafts are there, as is the original drawbar. The seat looks original and there is some sag in the original headliner. Tractor has 5600 hours and was a long time father/ son ownership. I believe they bought it new but can’t confirm. A tractor you can put right to work with an oils and filters service (No leaks, except for a rubber fuel return line easily accessed on the motor), show it as it is for it’s significance and originality, or restore a great candidate. The world of agriculture was ready for a new tractor. In 1939, John Deeres small tractor lineup consisted of the Model 62, the Model L, and the larger, newly introduced Model H. The H was heavier than the L and more expensive, but it could plant and cultivate two rows and was well received by customers. These models faced a new competitor when Ford marked its re-entry into the tractor business with the 9N. Boasting electric start and an exclusive 3-point hitch, Ford followed its standard practice of mass marketing at a cut-rate price. John Deere leaders knew that developing a new, innovative small tractor was essential. Production Halted because of War: Before this new tractor could become a reality, there were some challenges to overcome. First, in the midst of World War II, the U. War Production Board disallowed new product production in lieu of military production. The one-person Quik-Tatch implement system provided fast, efficient hitching that rivaled, and in many cases surpassed, the efficiencies of the 3-point hitch. First of all these tractors are bulletproof. Great running John Deere 1050 diesel tractor. It has power steering, two sets of remotes, 37 horsepower Yanmar engine with 33 at PTO. It needs a little tlc: could use new muffler, and seat pan is rusted some and right brake linkage needs some work, tires are cracked but are still serviceable, light switch frozen, the little plastic lid on antifreeze overflow bottle needs replaced, and plastic dash is cracked, poor paint and surface rust as expected, and I couldnt find drawbar. Power steering, clutch, engine, pto, and lift all work strong. No funny noises or excessive attention smoke from engine. The tractor was only used on turf farm since new to pump water. I have attached the specs from John Deere. Oils were recently changed. Tractor is located in Montross Virginia 22520. Im on an easy access road and can also deliver within 50 miles if needed for extra 100 dollars. I only transported it from my farm to sell it.
